Total War: WARHAMMER III

Immortal Empires is the real headline here: merging three full Total War Warhammer campaign maps and over 100 legendary lords into a single sprawling sandbox is an almost absurd amount of content, and the faction asymmetry means Kislev's attrition-driven ice warfare and Grand Cathay's harmony-building play like genuinely different games from Chaos Undivided's daemonic horde-summoning. Real-time battles remain the series' crown jewel, watching thousands of units, monsters, and spellcasters collide across varied terrain never gets old, and the campaign layer's diplomacy, confederation, and empire-building give strategic depth between fights. The base game's initial Chaos Realms of Chaos campaign was a rockier, more linear launch experience before Immortal Empires arrived to fix pacing and scope. The DLC cadence, while it keeps the game evolving, also means the full experience requires a real financial and time investment across multiple purchases. AI behavior on higher difficulties still leans on unfair bonuses rather than genuinely smarter play. Even so, for scale and faction variety, nothing in strategy gaming currently matches it.
