Kava

Kava is a Layer 1 blockchain built on the Cosmos SDK that uniquely combines the interoperability of Cosmos with full EVM compatibility, creating a dual-chain architecture designed to attract developers from both ecosystems. This co-chain design is a genuine technical differentiator, enabling Cosmos-native IBC transfers alongside Ethereum-compatible smart contracts. Kava's DeFi suite includes lending, borrowing, and staking protocols, with its native KAVA token serving governance and staking functions. The project benefits from Cosmos ecosystem credibility and has secured notable partnerships. However, Kava faces stiff competition from more established L1s and EVM-compatible chains like Avalanche and BNB Chain, and its DeFi TVL has struggled to maintain momentum compared to peak levels.
