Gboard

Gboard has quietly become the most capable mobile keyboard available, and the fact that it ships free on a billion-plus Android devices makes it the default standard. Gesture typing is fluid and accurate, predictive text improves meaningfully with use, and support for 900+ languages is unmatched by any competitor. The integrated Google Search, GIF sharing, and real-time Google Translate directly from the keyboard add genuinely useful functionality that no other keyboard replicates at this level. The clipboard manager and customizable themes round out a comprehensive feature set. As an AI assistant, the smart suggestions and predictive capabilities are helpful but limited to text input context -- it does not provide the conversational depth or proactive assistance of dedicated AI assistants. The iOS version, while functional, lacks some of the tighter OS integration that makes it shine on Android. Privacy-conscious users may be uncomfortable with Google processing their keystrokes. For pure keyboard functionality and convenience, Gboard sets the bar.
