The deep integration with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and OneDrive is its core competitive advantage -- for organizations already in the Microsoft ecosystem, Teams is the natural hub for communication and collaboration. Video conferencing with breakout rooms, live captions, recording with transcription, and Together Mode handles meetings capably at massive scale. Channel-based organization keeps team conversations structured. As a messaging app, Teams is functional but heavier and slower than purpose-built alternatives like Slack -- the interface can feel cluttered and navigation between chats, channels, and teams is confusing for new users. Project management features cover basic task assignment and tracking but lack the workflow sophistication of dedicated tools. The resource consumption is notorious -- Teams is demanding on system resources. The free personal version is surprisingly capable.
