The Confidant system gives genuine mechanical rewards for building relationships, making every social interaction feel purposeful. Turn-based combat is elevated by the Persona fusion system and the satisfying all-out attack mechanic. The Royal edition's additional semester provides a meaningful narrative payoff and the best content in the game. The main criticism is length -- at 100-plus hours, pacing occasionally sags, and some dungeon designs are less inspired than others. The writing can also lean into anime tropes.
