The multi-day itineraries—typically ranging from two to seven nights—weave through the Highlands with stops for castle visits, whisky distillery tours, and countryside walks. Onboard dining is exceptional, featuring Scottish produce and fine wines, while the observation car provides a convivial atmosphere for evening whisky tastings. The obvious caveat is the price: this is firmly in ultra-luxury territory, often exceeding £3,000 per person for shorter journeys. The cabins, while charming and well-appointed, are compact by hotel standards—an inherent constraint of rail travel.
