Fornasetti Profumi is the home fragrance division of Fornasetti, the Italian decorative arts house founded by artist and designer Piero Fornasetti in Milan in 1940. The fragrance line was launched in 2015 under the direction of Barnaba Fornasetti, Piero's son and the current creative director of the brand. Fornasetti remains a family-owned company headquartered in Milan.
Fornasetti Profumi's candles are distinguished by their hand-decorated porcelain vessels, which feature the iconic graphic motifs from Fornasetti's decorative universe. The most recognizable motif is the face of Lina Cavalieri, an Italian opera singer from the early 20th century, whose visage Piero Fornasetti reproduced in over 350 variations across his career. Each candle vessel is produced in Fornasetti's Milan atelier and is designed to be kept as a decorative object after the candle is consumed.
The fragrance collection encompasses approximately 15 scents, developed in collaboration with perfumers in Italy. Products include scented candles in multiple sizes (300g and 900g), diffusers, room sprays, and scented spheres. Key fragrances include Otto (a signature blend of thyme, lavender, and orris), Flora (white flowers), Ortensia (hydrangea), and Astronomici (amber and incense). The brand also releases limited-edition seasonal scents and collaborations.
Fornasetti Profumi products are sold through the Fornasetti boutique in Milan, luxury department stores such as Harrods, Le Bon Marche, and Bergdorf Goodman, high-end home furnishing retailers, and the brand's own e-commerce platform. The candles occupy the ultra-luxury price tier, reflecting both the cost of handmade porcelain vessels and the Fornasetti name.
