Hans Wegner's CH24 Wishbone Chair, produced by Carl Hansen & Søn since 1950, is one of the most iconic pieces of Scandinavian furniture design ever created. The steam-bent wood frame and hand-woven paper cord seat represent a remarkable marriage of craftsmanship and organic minimalism. It's genuinely comfortable for a dining chair, ages beautifully, and its silhouette is instantly recognizable without being ostentatious. The construction quality is exceptional — these chairs routinely last decades, and the paper cord seat can be re-woven when it eventually wears. That said, at roughly $700-900 per chair, furnishing a dining table becomes a serious investment. The paper cord seat, while lovely, does require some care and isn't ideal for households with young children or pets.
