Lanvin is a French fashion house founded in 1889 by Jeanne Lanvin in Paris, making it the oldest French couture house still in operation. Jeanne Lanvin began as a milliner before expanding into childrenswear and womenswear, and the house's logo, depicting a mother and daughter, is drawn from a photograph of Lanvin and her daughter Marguerite.
The house's heritage includes the Arpege fragrance, launched in 1927, and a couture legacy spanning robes de style and celebrated embroidery. In the modern era, Alber Elbaz's tenure as creative director from 2001 to 2015 restored Lanvin's position in luxury fashion. Today the house produces women's and men's ready-to-wear, leather goods, footwear, and accessories. Its sneaker offering, particularly the Curb with its oversized sole and lace system alongside the DBB1 leather low-top, has become a significant part of the modern business.
Lanvin was acquired in 2018 by Chinese conglomerate Fosun International and is now the flagship house of Lanvin Group, which listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2022. The brand operates boutiques in Paris, including its historic Faubourg Saint-Honore address, and in major cities worldwide, alongside its own e-commerce platform.
