Planet Coaster 2 doubles down on what made the original the genre's benchmark, and the addition of fully integrated water parks is a smart, natural expansion rather than a bolted-on gimmick. Sculpting flumes and wave pools alongside gravity-defying coasters gives builders a genuinely bigger canvas, and the piece-by-piece construction tools remain the most flexible in the tycoon space, aided by an active community sharing blueprints that extend the game's life far beyond what any single player could build alone. New event sequencing that syncs rides, fireworks, and effects is a lovely showcase feature for dedicated park architects. Management depth, lifeguards, sunscreen, guest satisfaction, feels appropriately expanded rather than padded. The tradeoff is a learning curve that remains steep for newcomers, and the presence of microtransactions in a full-priced premium sequel is a sour note that undercuts the goodwill Frontier has built. It's a light iteration more than a reinvention, but for coaster and park sim devotees, it's still the best sandbox going.
