Altagamma is the foundation that represents Italian high-end and luxury industry companies, established in 1992 and based in Milan. Its membership brings together leading Italian brands across fashion, design, jewelry, hospitality, food, automotive, and wellness, with the mission of promoting the growth and competitiveness of Italy's cultural and creative high-end industry, a sector that accounts for a significant share of national GDP.
Altagamma is one of the most influential research sources in the global luxury industry. Each year it presents the Altagamma Consensus, a forecast of luxury market growth compiled with a panel of Italian and international financial analysts, and the Altagamma-Bain Worldwide Luxury Market Monitor, curated with senior partners at Bain & Company. These studies, presented at the annual Altagamma Observatory, are standard references for investors, analysts, and executives tracking the personal luxury goods market, which the 2025 edition estimated at approximately 1.44 trillion euros in total luxury spending globally.
The foundation is chaired by Matteo Lunelli, who was named chairman in 2020, with Stefania Lazzaroni as managing director. Beyond research, Altagamma runs initiatives on talent development, craftsmanship, and advocacy for the high-end industry in Italy and Europe, and collaborates with counterpart associations such as Comite Colbert in France.
Studies, press materials, and membership information are published on the Altagamma website in Italian and English.
