Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is an action-adventure from FromSoftware set in a mythologized Sengoku-era Japan. Players control Wolf, a shinobi sworn to rescue his kidnapped lord, wielding a katana and a prosthetic arm loaded with tools like grappling hooks, firecrackers, and axes. Unlike the studio's Souls games, combat revolves around posture: deflecting attacks with precise parries to break an enemy's guard and land a deathblow. Stealth, vertical grappling movement, and a resurrection mechanic set it further apart from its soulslike siblings. The game's boss duels, including the legendary Isshin the Sword Saint, are considered among the finest melee encounters ever designed. Sekiro won Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2019.
