The digital implementation smartly handles the rules overhead that intimidates newcomers to the tabletop version, with faction-specific tutorials easing the steep learning curve. AI opponents are serviceable for practice but lack the read-your-opponent tension that defines Root at its best against humans. Visual presentation is charming but modest, clearly secondary to the systems design. Expansion factions add welcome variety, though the asymmetry that makes Root brilliant also means new players face real friction before matches feel fair.
