Interlay

Interlay is a decentralized network built on Polkadot that focuses on bridging Bitcoin into the DeFi ecosystem through its flagship product, interBTC (iBTC) " a trustless, 1:1 Bitcoin-backed asset. The project addresses a genuine gap in the market: enabling Bitcoin holders to participate in DeFi without relying on centralized custodians, differentiating itself from wrapped BTC solutions like wBTC. Built as a Polkadot parachain, Interlay benefits from shared security and cross-chain interoperability within the Polkadot ecosystem. The technology leverages a decentralized vault system with over-collateralization, which is architecturally sound. However, the project faces challenges: INTR token has experienced significant price depreciation, Polkadot's ecosystem growth has been slower than competitors, and adoption of iBTC remains modest compared to centralized alternatives.
