Botkeeper is an AI-powered bookkeeping automation platform built for accounting firms, which use it to automate bookkeeping work across their business clients. The platform, now branded Botkeeper Infinite, serves around 200 accounting firms and more than 5,000 of their business clients.

Its modules include Transaction Manager for machine-learning transaction categorization, Auto Bank Rec for automated bank reconciliation, JE Automation for journal entries (which the company reports at 97% accuracy), Bot Review for autonomous month-end review with anomaly detection, and Smart Connect for secure financial institution data feeds, alongside a Firm Insights dashboard, Close Tracker, and task management. Botkeeper's machine learning uses confidence-based posting: high-confidence entries post to the general ledger automatically while low-confidence items are surfaced for human review. It has historically integrated with QuickBooks Online and Xero.

Botkeeper was founded in 2015 in Boston by Enrico Palmerino. In early 2026 its assets were acquired by bookkeeping provider Xendoo, and it now operates as the Botkeeper Infinite division within Xendoo, continuing to serve existing customers and take new orders.

The web platform is priced per license per month on a sliding scale: $134 for 1-4 licenses, $98 for 5-9, $71 for 10-24, and $53 for 25 or more (annual billing; monthly billing is higher). There is no free tier.

Botkeeper targets accounting firms rather than individual businesses, automating the grind of bookkeeping across many clients at once. Its modular design is a genuine strength: Transaction Manager and Auto Bank Rec handle categorization and reconciliation with machine learning, JE Automation claims high accuracy on journal entries, and Bot Review adds anomaly detection for month-end close, with confidence-based posting sending only uncertain entries to a human reviewer. That hybrid model is a sensible way to balance automation with accuracy, and integrations with QuickBooks Online and Xero cover the accounting stacks most firms already use. The per-license, tiered pricing rewards firms with more seats, which suits multi-client practices but makes it a poor fit for solo bookkeepers or small in-house teams. The bigger question mark is the 2026 acquisition by Xendoo: while the company says it continues serving existing customers under the Botkeeper Infinite name, the ownership change introduces uncertainty around product roadmap and long-term support that prospective buyers should factor in. No public API or open pricing tier limits flexibility for firms wanting deeper customization.
