Elie Saab is a Lebanese fashion designer and the founder of the eponymous luxury fashion house established in 1982 in Beirut. Saab showed an early aptitude for fashion and began designing at a young age before opening his first atelier as a teenager. The brand gained international prominence when Halle Berry wore an Elie Saab gown to the 2002 Academy Awards, and Saab became the first non-Italian member of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana. He was admitted to the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in Paris in 2003.
Elie Saab's core expertise lies in evening wear and bridal gowns, with the house known for its elaborate embroidery, lacework, beading, and use of flowing fabrics such as silk tulle, organza, and chiffon. The brand produces haute couture collections shown during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, ready-to-wear lines, bridal collections, accessories, and fragrances. The ready-to-wear and Le Parfum fragrance lines have expanded the brand's accessibility beyond its couture base. The fragrance division, produced in partnership with Beaute Prestige International (a Shiseido subsidiary), includes the Le Parfum line, which has achieved commercial success in European and Middle Eastern markets.
Elie Saab operates from Beirut and maintains showrooms and retail presence in major fashion capitals. The brand distributes through its own boutiques, luxury department stores, and authorized multi-brand retailers. Elie Saab's client base for couture and evening wear includes royalty, heads of state, and celebrities attending high-profile red carpet events globally.
