White Cube is a British contemporary art gallery founded in London in 1993 by Jay Jopling. The gallery played a central role in the rise of the Young British Artists in the 1990s, giving early exposure to figures including Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin, and has since developed into one of the leading international dealers in contemporary art.
Its flagship space, White Cube Bermondsey, opened in 2011 in a converted 1970s warehouse in south London and ranks among the largest commercial galleries in Europe, complemented by the historic Mason's Yard gallery in St James's. The gallery has expanded internationally with spaces in Hong Kong, Paris, Seoul, New York, and West Palm Beach. Its artist roster includes Antony Gormley, Tracey Emin, Anselm Kiefer, Mona Hatoum, and Theaster Gates, among many others, alongside artist estates.
White Cube stages large-scale exhibitions, publishes catalogues, and participates in major fairs such as Art Basel and Frieze. Sales span works on paper and editions through to monumental sculpture and museum-grade paintings, serving private collectors, corporate collections, and institutions worldwide. The gallery remains privately owned by its founder.
