Marvel's Spider-Man 2

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 refines rather than reinvents Insomniac's formula, and given how good that formula already was, that's a smart choice. Web Wings and slingshot launches make traversal across the expanded Brooklyn and Queens map feel genuinely faster and more thrilling than the original's already excellent swinging, turning simple movement into one of the game's most joyful moments. Swapping between Peter and Miles nearly at will keeps combat fresh, layering symbiote powers and evolved venom strikes onto the series' acrobatic brawling without diluting its core rhythm. The Venom saga adaptation gives Peter's arc real weight, his corruption under the black suit is well-paced, and Kraven's hunt provides a compelling parallel antagonist thread. Set pieces like the citywide Sandman battle show off what PS5 hardware can do without feeling like empty spectacle. The open-world side content still leans on familiar checklist patterns that Insomniac hasn't fully escaped since the first game, and the campaign's length feels tighter than some may want for the asking price. Still, as a superhero blockbuster, it's near the top of its genre.
