Bausch + Lomb is one of the oldest continually operating eye health companies in the world, founded in 1853 by John Jacob Bausch and Henry Lomb in Rochester, New York, as an optical goods shop. Over its history the company produced eyeglass lenses, microscopes, binoculars, camera lenses, and the original Ray-Ban sunglasses, which it created for US Army pilots in the 1930s and later sold to Luxottica. Today the company focuses entirely on eye health across three segments: Vision Care, Pharmaceuticals, and Surgical. Its contact lens portfolio includes the SofLens, Biotrue ONEday, Ultra, and Infuse lines, alongside lens care products such as ReNu and Biotrue multi-purpose solutions. The pharmaceuticals segment includes Lumify redness-reliever eye drops, prescription dry eye treatment Xiidra, and Miebo, while the surgical business supplies intraocular lenses, phacoemulsification systems, and instruments for cataract and vitreoretinal procedures. Bausch + Lomb also markets the Ocuvite and PreserVision lines of eye vitamins. The company was acquired by Valeant Pharmaceuticals in 2013 and returned to the public markets through a 2022 IPO, though it remains majority-owned by Bausch Health Companies. Its corporate headquarters is in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec, Canada, with significant operations still based in Rochester. Bausch + Lomb sells in roughly 100 countries and reports annual revenue above four billion US dollars.

Bausch + Lomb carries over a century of eye-care heritage and, following its spin-off from Bausch Health, now operates with sharper strategic focus across three distinct categories: contact lenses (Biotrue, Ultra), ophthalmic pharmaceuticals and eye drops, and surgical/medical devices. That breadth is the brand's calling card - few competitors span all three so completely - but it also means no single line consistently leads its category the way a more specialized rival might. The lens portfolio is solid and comfort-focused rather than cutting-edge, the pharmaceutical business benefits from decades of clinician trust, and the device segment is respectable if less dominant than Alcon's surgical franchise. A dependable, broad-based eye-care name rather than a category disruptor.
