Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima remains one of the finest open-world action games of its generation, largely because Sucker Punch trusted atmosphere over checklists. Guiding wind instead of a minimap, foxes leading to hidden shrines, and haiku composition at scenic vistas turn traversal into something meditative rather than a chore, and the painterly rendering of Tsushima's fields and forests still looks stunning years later. Combat is where the game truly shines: stance-switching against spear-wielders, shield-bearers, and brutes demands real tactical thinking, while the Ghost's stealth kit, kunai, smoke bombs, terror masks, offers a satisfying alternative to direct swordplay. The central tension between Jin's samurai honor and the Ghost's pragmatism gives the story genuine thematic weight, even if some side content follows familiar open-world patterns. The Kurosawa black-and-white mode is a gorgeous, thoughtful touch, and Legends' co-op missions add welcome replay value. It occasionally leans on open-world formula more than it needs to, but as a complete package, world, combat, and craft, it's a genre highlight.
