Hauser & Wirth is an international gallery for modern and contemporary art founded in Zurich in 1992 by Iwan Wirth, Manuela Wirth, and Ursula Hauser. From its Swiss origins the gallery has grown into one of the largest art dealerships in the world, representing a roster of leading contemporary artists and major artist estates.
The gallery is known for a program that pairs museum-quality exhibitions with education, publishing, and hospitality. Its locations include galleries in Zurich, London, New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Monaco, and Gstaad, as well as destination art centers that extend beyond the conventional white cube: Hauser & Wirth Somerset, a converted farm complex in rural England, and an island art center in Menorca, both featuring exhibitions, gardens, and restaurants. The gallery publishes books and the magazine Ursula, and its artist list includes figures such as Louise Bourgeois, Philip Guston, Mark Bradford, and Rashid Johnson, alongside numerous estates and foundations.
Hauser & Wirth participates in the major international art fairs, including Art Basel and Frieze, and sells to museums, foundations, and private collectors worldwide. Works range from editions and works on paper to paintings and sculptures priced in the millions of dollars. The gallery remains privately owned by its founding partners.
