Prada Group is an Italian luxury goods group headquartered in Milan. Its origins date to 1913, when Mario Prada opened the Fratelli Prada leather goods shop in Milan's Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Under Miuccia Prada, who took over the family business in 1978, and her husband Patrizio Bertelli, the company grew from a leather goods house into a multi-brand luxury group. Prada S.p.A. has been listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since 2011, with the Prada family retaining control.
The group's portfolio comprises Prada, its flagship fashion house; Miu Miu, founded by Miuccia Prada in 1993; the English shoemaker Church's; the driving-shoe brand Car Shoe; the historic Milanese patisserie Marchesi 1824; and the Luna Rossa sailing team, which competes in the America's Cup. In 2025 the group agreed to acquire Versace from Capri Holdings, one of the most significant Italian luxury transactions in years.
Prada Group is distinguished among luxury conglomerates by its vertically integrated industrial structure, operating over twenty owned factories, mostly in Italy, and controlling much of its leather goods, footwear, and ready-to-wear production. The group runs more than six hundred directly operated stores worldwide and has largely eliminated wholesale distribution in favor of retail control.
The group also maintains Fondazione Prada, a contemporary art foundation with venues in Milan and Venice, and has pursued sustainability initiatives including its Re-Nylon regenerated nylon program.
